Orlando Regional Competition Chair, Sarah Plemmons, who was recognized as a Volunteer of the Year at the 2014 Orlando Regional in March, was recently awarded the Missiles and Fire Control Inclusion Award from Lockheed Martin.
The Inclusion Award recognizes significant contributions of employees who promote a diverse and inclusive culture. Sarah Plemmons, senior staff systems engineer, was recognized for her dedication to promoting STEM and her leadership of the FIRST robotics program.
In recognizing her achievements, Lockheed Martin said, in part, “Sarah’s involvement with FIRST includes sponsorship of high school teams for multiple Missiles and Fire Control events such as Take Your Child To Work Day which exposed hundreds of students to potential careers in engineering. In 2006, she became a mentor for the FIRST Robotics Team that her son had joined. Her involvement with Exploding Bacon Robotics was the beginning of an ever-expanding role of promoting STEM education for young people. ”
We are so proud of Sarah for receiving this award and are so thankful for all that she does for FIRST, STEM, and the Orlando Regional.
