Team Spotlight: Team 1557 12 Volt Bolt of Eustis, FL

12 Volt Bolt 2Next up, another Florida team, 1557 12 Volt Bolt of Eustis, FL !

Team 1557 12 Volt Bolt is celebrating its 13th anniversary as a FIRST team, and is committed to providing STEAM opportunities to students in the area. Our motto is, “we’re NUTS”: Neighbors Uniting for Technology and Science.

We participate in local festivals, off-season competitions and homeschool expos. This year we started a FIRST LEGO League Jr. Team that meets regularly at the clubhouse, in order to meet the growing need of younger students showing an interest in STEAM and FIRST values which we teach through robotics.

We assist local businesses in the community that focus on helping people both locally and 12 Volt Bolt 1internationally. We work with the Rafiki Foundation, to support children and families in needy African countries. We donated and helped sort food for Deliver the Difference, which provides food to hungry children, locally and internationally. Last year and this year we assisted the Lake County Firefighters with their annual toy drive by collecting toys and helping distribute the toys before Christmas. Our team is committed to participating in this outreach event and plans to make it a yearly service project.

We love to share our excitement for FIRST values to anyone who shows interest in our team and our robot, and we are thankful for the partnership with our sponsors: Mount Dora Community Trust, Lockheed Martin, Charles B. and Mary M. McLin Foundation, Society of Women Engineers, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Publix Super Market Charities and Acieta. Team 1557 appreciates their support for providing us with the opportunity to compete in the Orlando Regional this year. We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones!

By inspiring and uniting our community, 12 Volt Bolt is doing its part to make everyone nuts about robotics!

You can see 12 Volt Bolt going nuts for robotics at the Orlando Regional March 10th & 11th!
