It’s a day at the beach for Hilton Head, South Carolina Team 1876, Beachbotics. Check out their story!
In our first competition nine years ago, we won the highest rookie seed award at the 2006 Palmetto Regional. In the 2014 Palmetto Regional, Beachbotics remained undefeated in the qualification rounds. Our sponsors include the Beaufort County School District, Palmetto Electric Co-op, Foundation for Educational Excellence, Hilton Head Concours D’Elegance, and Hilton Head Island High School.
This past year we were fortunate enough to acquire a Makerbot 3D Printer, which has allowed us to increase our build speed substantially. Many of the parts we’ve needed to fabricate in the past can now be designed and printed by our CAD team. This year, we’ve organized our team into specialized pieces. Our game strategy, CAD, management, production, technology, programming, and marketing teams come together to form Beachbotics.
An important focus during pre-season is team building. Team 1876 has definitely benefitted from the communication techniques and teamwork activities we’ve learned this past year. Through this method, we’ve been extremely productive so far this season. Hopefully this will continue to help us in the future.
We’re looking forward to welcoming this great South Carolina team to the 17th Annual Orlando Regional!
