Team Spotlight: Meet Team 1369 Minotaur, of Tampa, FL

MinotaurCharging over from Tampa, it’s Team 1369, Minotaur, whose motto is, “Where Engineers are Born!”

Watch out for the horns! FIRST Robotics Competition Team 1369 Minotaur, is thundering in from Tampa, Florida!

Team 1369 Minotaur is from Middleton Magnet High School in Tampa, Florida. We are a Title 1 STEM school and 1 of only 7 in the nation to be STEM accredited, and in top 10% of magnet schools nationwide with a Magnet School of Excellence rating.

We are 1 of 2 teams from Florida that have already qualified for the FIRST STRONGHOLD Championship in St Louis by winning the Palmetto Regional along with our alliance partners, 179 Children of the Swamp, and 4451 Robotz Garage.

Our team loves to help out in the community by doing toy drives, hosting and mentoring FIRST LEGO League tournaments, and helping other FIRST Robotics Competition teams establish themselves.

Our team is made up of children all over Hillsborough County, including homeschoolers. We love to give a chance to everyone to be a part of something as inspirational and life changing as FIRST. This is a main reason why some of our team members have created and mentor their own FIRST LEGO League teams. Nearly all of our alumni are now in top ranking universities and studying in some form of technological or medical field.

We give a huge amount of thanks to our sponsors, including NASA, Verizon, Suncoast Federal Credit Union, for without them we would not be able to have two robots or the opportunity to travel to out of state competitions.Minotaur 2

Our 2016 robot, ASTERION (the Greek word for Minotaur) features a unique modular design allowing us to play offense or defense with our “Mutumbo Device 2.0” which had a better than 90% shot denial rate at Palmetto Regional

Watch out for the horns – and the Mutumbo Device 2.0!

Go Team!
