Team Spotlight: Meet Team 1557 12 Volt Bolt of Eustis, FL

12 volt boltLike a bolt out of the blue, here comes Team 1557, 12 Volt Bolt!

Team 1557, more commonly known as 12 Volt Bolt, is a FIRST Robotics Competition team from Eustis, Florida that has been teaching students STEM since 2004. During the off-seasons, Team 1557 is very active in the community and fundraises, recruits new members, and gains new sponsors. 12 Volt Bolt participates in street festivals, food drives, and educational opportunities to teach kids about robotics at libraries, local events, and schools. The team is always looking for new ways to reach out to the community when not preparing for competitions.

During the off-season, the team presented their robot at a local Rural King to gaingroup for toy drive awareness in the community. They also participated in the SunLove Festival at which the robot was demonstrated, and gave people an opportunity to drive it, to gain funds and develop community relationships. In addition, 12 Volt Bolt assisted a FIRST LEGO League team recently for their upcoming competition. They showed the team around their clubhouse, listened to the FIRST LEGO League team’s presentation, and gave critique and feedback to help the team members.

At Christmas, the team helped the Lake County Fire Department by collecting toys for children in need. The team donated over 100 toys for the charity, as well as helped out with distributing the toys to the parents. Team 1557 is currently sponsoring a year-long food drive for Deliver the Difference, to be given to families in need in Lake County. 12 Volt Bolt strives to make a positive impact in the community.

That’s some serious impact! Way to go Team 1557!  Go Team!
