Swimming up from Southwest Florida comes the RoboRays!

Team 1744, the RoboRays, of Naples Florida is a young team trying to revitalize the FIRST Robotics Competition  program in Collier County, in Southwest Florida.

The vast majority of the students on the team are new to robotics and FIRST. Being a small private school in a county mostly made up of environmental sciences, getting into the technology world is sometimes difficult. We have come a long way this year in not only designing and building our first robot, but also in designing a future business and sustainability program for FIRST.

Our FRC and FLL teams working together at the Children’s museum for a demonstration.

We are very excited to be holding our first annual car show soon, establishing an after school program for our middle school kids, helping to design a FIRST LEGO League Jr. program, and hosting a robotics camp this summer. We are very enthusiastic about the FIRST program and growing that program in our school to include established FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Robotics Competition teams, and future FIRST LEGO League  and FIRST Tech Challenge teams.

In addition, our team is working with the school as advisers to help develop a maker space for technological innovation.

Not that’s doing your (Dean’s) Homework!

Go Team!
