FRC Team 180 S.P.A.M. is once again traveling north to Orlando for its first regional of the 2016 season. This team of 70 students is located in Martin County, FL and has been competing as a FIRST team for 19 years. S.P.A.M. has 31 rookies on the team this year which is a result of the other FIRST programs they have started in their community.

It’s been a busy off-season for them where they ran three summer camps and hosted and ran one FIRST LEGO League practice tournament and three FIRST LEGO League qualifying tournaments.  While Speed, Power and Maneuverability are what it takes to put a competitive robot on the field, it’s Gracious Professionalism and a commitment to #MakeFIRSTLoud that is building STEM programs in their community.

They have grown their FIRST programs to 22 and next year they have funding and mentors in place to start #23. As part of its culture, S.P.A.M. embraces Gracious Professionalism by empowering everyone on the team to assist other teams to overcome obstacles so all participants are able to compete with their robots.

This year they are sharing their “Camp In A Box” at a conference so any teams who need it can have a tool for outreach and fundraising. If you need to brush up on this year’s game rules or simply want to test your knowledge, visit their website at spamrobotics.com and go through their “2016 Stronghold Rules Quiz.”

Build your champion, rally your kingdom.  S.P.A.M. looks forward to seeing everyone in Orlando!

And so do we! Go Team!
