Krunch Team Photo_2015-2016Team 79 Krunch is a FIRST® Robotics Competition team that operates out of East Lake High School’s very own Engineering Lab, in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

Here at Team 79, our team operates like a family, uniting mentors, engineers, and students through engineering, robotics, and STEM education. As a team, we promote FIRST principles, and bring recognition to STEM by participating in outreach events like demos or media nights, as well as mentoring other FIRST Robotics Competition  teams, along with FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST LEGO League teams.

We don’t stop there; in 2014, our team helped kickstart and run the SPARK program at a local library. The program is designed to foster an interest in STEM for underprivileged Krunch 3elementary school students in the Clearwater area. It consisted of 8 robotics teams that we started, comprised of nearly 50 kids. We also participate in other outreach events like Relay for Life; every year we raise funds for research to engineer a cure for cancer. We also put a lot of effort into our robots.

Since our team’s formation in 1998, we have won a seat at 15 national competitions, and we have also been national finalists. Our team has also won many Chairman’s and Dean’s list regional awards. Our team has accomplished a lot in the past, and we have made a name for ourselves as Team 79 Krunch, and we hope to achieve even more.

We know you will, and can’t wait to see this great veteran team at the 18th annual Orlando Regional!

Go Team!
