Team Spotlight: Team 801 Horsepower of Merritt Island, FL

801 -2Here comes the herd: Meet Team 801 Horsepower,  of Merritt Island, FL

Team Horsepower is the FIRST Robotics team for schools located in Merritt Island, Florida. The team was started during the 2001-2002 school year by a group of dedicated students and mentors. Since then, we have faced many ups and downs, while continuing to perform better and better each year.

Our team is student driven. This means that the students are actively involved in every 801 -1aspect of designing and building. While we rely heavily on guidance from our corporate mentors, we believe that students learn by doing. FIRST is about a hands-on engineering experience. It is an opportunity for students to work with professionals in a real world setting.

Our goal is to create a robot that the students know inside and out, built from the collective efforts of each member of the team—students, corporate engineers and technicians.
We are so fortunte to have so many wonderful sponsors. For the 2017 Steamworks competition the following sponsors supported us: Jacobs Technology, Lockheed Martin, Brevard Public Schools, Brevard County Fire Rescue Station 43, United Lanch Alliance (ULA), GSDO, Precision, Fabrication, and Cleaning, Bansbach Easylift of N. America, Craig Technologies, Defense Suppliers of Electronic Components Inc., Defense Technologies Inc., LVX System, Millennium Engineering and Intergration Company, Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT Inc), East Coast Lumber & Supply Co., Dittmer Air Conditional & Heating Services Inc., Premium Marine, Space Shirts, Crest Cleaners, Brevard Towing, Merritt Island High School, Edgewood Jr/Sr High School, Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School.
